Whenever you hear people complain "Why can't we get 50MPG in the Civic they did it in 1985 with the CRX" etc, you can tell them this is why. It's incredible what safety improvements have done over the years. Improved safety cages add weight, but have proven results! Glad to hear they are safe!

That's the one little thing that worries me about the car I drive, the thirty years worth of safety innovations it lacks.
Narry an airbag nor rear passenger shoulder belt to be found in my Celica.
Being that it's a vert, I probably wouldn't have walked away from a crash like that.
